Game
Rules
A team must have 7 players in order to play, and at least 2 girls.
Only the designated team captain may dispute calls with the umpire
A game last 6 innings or 45 minutes. If the game is still tied after 45
minutes, it will be logged in the standings as a tie. Only playoff games
will continue until there is a winner.
A new inning will not start if there 5 minutes or less to go in the game
The game clock starts when the umpire calls for captains
Home team is determined by a coin toss prior to the start of the game.
In the playoffs, the home team is always the team with the best record.
Only the captain may argue calls with the umpire. Any other player arguing
calls with the umpire may be ejected from the game at the umpire's discretion.
Field/Equipment
Each base is 60 feet apart.
Pitchers mound is 45 feet from home plate
Size 10 Playground ball is used
No metal spikes
Batting/Baserunning
Captains must turn in their kicking order to the umpire at the start of
the game.
All players on the roster can be in the lineup
All players in the field must kick.
No more than 2 guys may kick in a row.
Guys can only kick once in the kicking order. The kicking order works
like a baseball/softball lineup in that kickers must stay in the same
kicking order unless there are substitutions.
Must maintain a 3/2 guy to girl ratio in your kicking order
Legal Batting combinations for co-ed:
8 players minimum 2 girls, maximum 6 guys, both females batting twice
8 players 3 girls, 5 guys, with one female batting twice
9 players minimum 3 girls, maximum 6 guys, with a female batting twice
10 players minimum 4 girls, maximum 6 guys
11 players minimum 5 girls, maximum 6 guys
12 players minimum 5 girls, maximum 7 guys
13 players minimum 5 girls, maximum 8 guys
14 players minimum 6 girls, maximum 8 guys
15 players minimum 6 girls, maximum 9 guys
16 players minimum 6 girls, maximum 10 guys
Girls can
kick more than once to make the lineup legal, but can kick no more than
twice before the lineup turns over.
For a player to be fielding, they must be in the batting order. You can
rotate positions in and out every inning, just as long as the player is
in the batting order.
Each team gets 3 outs per inning
In the first 3 innings, a team can score no more than 10 runs an inning.
If the team is leading by 15 runs after 3 innings, 12 runs after 4 innings,
or 10 runs after 5 innings, the losing team has the option to surrender
and the game is over.
The ball must cross the front of the plate prior to being kicked. If the
ball is kicked prior to crossing the plate it is a dead ball, and the
kicking team is warned. On all successive kicks in front of the plate,
the ball is ruled to be a foul ball and if caught in the air by the defense
it is an out.
There are no leads or steals.
Guys are not allowed to bunt. It is the umpire's discretion as to whether
or no a kick is a bunt.
Girl bunting is allowed, but there must be a kicking motion involved,
otherwise it is a dead ball, and must be re-kicked.
Substitute runners are allowed for injured players, but the runner must
be the last out of the same gender.
If the batter is hit by their own kicked ball and is in fair territory,
then they are out. If the batter is in foul territory, then it is ruled
a foul ball.
If a runner who is out interferes with the continuation of a play, then
the batter is automatically out, if the batter was the one who interferes,
then the lead runner is out.
On fields that have two bags at first base, the batter must run to the
orange bag. If the batter runs to the white bag and there is interference
with the defensive player fielding the ball, the umpire can rule the batter
out and the ball dead and play stopped. The batter may use the white only
if they are trying to avoid a collision.
Pitching
The pitch must be at a reasonable speed and not bouncing.
The pitcher does not have to stand on the rubber to pitch and may pitch
from in front of the mound in order to get a flat and accurate pitch,
but must retreat back to the pitching rubber before the ball is kicked.
There is no limit on the number of pitches, but if the pitcher is frequently
rolling bad pitches, the umpire will request a change of pitchers. If
the batter is frequently refusing good pitches, the umpire will call a
strike.
3 fouls and the batter is out.
Fielding
No more than 10 players can be in the field.
There can't be more than 6 guys in the field.
If there are 9 or 10 players in the field, a catcher is required, otherwise
the catcher position is optional.
The ball may be thrown at the runner, but must hit the runner between
the shoulders and the knees, otherwise the runner is safe. If the runner
ducks, jumps, or slides, than any part of the body may be hit.
There can be no more than 6 fielders in the infield (including catcher).
All other players must be begin play on the grass. Once the ball is kicked
they may come into in the infield
Fielders may not get closer than the diagonal running from 1st to 3rd base until the ball is kicked or has gone 3 feet past the homeplate.
If the defensive team repeatedly violates this rule, the umpire may award the kicker first base.
If a fielder has been ruled to have intentionally dropped a pop-up/fly
ball, all runners are safe and the batter is out.
The catcher must stay within arms length of the backstop (portion of the
fence between the entrances to the dugouts) until the ball is kicked.
On fields that have two bags at first base, the defensive player must
use the white bag. The defensive player may use the orange bag if they
are trying to avoid a collision.
You cannot change shift fielders around based on the gender of the batter.
For example, you can no longer switch your catchers around in between
batters. You can change your defensive lineup between innings. You can switch your outfielders around and you can move your infielers around (except catcher).
If you start the inning in the outfield, you must be in the outfield until the ball is kicked.
Timeouts
Timeout is called by the umpire.
Once a defensive player has the ball at pitchers mound, then time will
be called. If any base runner is not more than halfway to the next base
when time is called, they must return to the previous base.
Time may also be called if no runners are trying to advance to the next
base.
